Thank you for your interest in being an entertainer at the 6th Utah Winter Faire!  We truly could not do it without your willingness to share talents.  The Utah Winter Faire is a very interactive, immersive experience.   This year's theme is Year of the Winter Dragon. We encourage entertainers to incorporate it into their performances if possible.

    Entertainer Code of Conduct

PATRON INTERACTION  Character entertainers should remain in character any time you are in sight of patrons.  Remember, the fantasy is what it is all about!  The magical feeling of Faires come when people feel that have been transported to somewhere different, and it is hard to feel transported if entertainers are talking about car troubles or eating a tuna fish sandwich from a plastic box.  (Just some examples!)  We also know that it is a LOT of work to stay in character for that amount of time.  We want to make sure you take care of yourselves, and take time to refresh so you can be your best.  To that end, we have created a Green Room where you can go out of view from Patrons and take a break.  Please utilize this space to rest and remember to eat and stay hydrated.

RESPECT   Be polite and respectful of others. Events require us to work very closely with each other. It should go without saying that a task is made easier through cooperation and respect. Everyone should be treated as we ourselves would like to be treated.

LANGUAGE   There will be children’s activities throughout the Faire, and we want to make sure we maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all our Patrons.  Please do not use any vulgar or offensive language anywhere in the Faire.

PROPERTY OF OTHERS   Do not touch, pickup, etc. things that are not your own. Many of the props, costume items, and tools of the trade from other entertainers and vendors are unique pieces, difficult to come by, or expensive and should not be used without prior permission from the owner.  On that note, if you have an item that you specifically want to be display only, we recommend having a small, polite sign with this information.

HARASSMENT Real or potential harassment, sexual or otherwise, will not be tolerated.  This applies to everyone, patron, vendor and entertainer alike. If you feel harassed, go to someone on the Safety Team so we can take action.

DRUGS AND ALCOHOL   If you have a prescription for medication, please take it as directed. Be sure to notify Faire personnel of any serious medical condition, so we can take it into account if dealing with you during any emergency.  If you have illegal possession of a controlled substance, we will have no choice but to eject you and contact local law enforcement.
No alcohol possession and/or consumption is allowed at this Faire.

SMOKING  We are regulated under the Utah Clean Air Act, which prohibits smoking inside or within 25 feet of the building. This law applies to both traditional cigarettes as well as e-cigarettes. State of Utah definition: “E-cigarette means any electronic oral device that provides a vapor of nicotine or other substance and which simulates smoking through its use or through inhalation of the vapor through the device; and includes an oral device that is composed of a heating element, battery, or electronic circuit and marketed, manufactured, distributed, or sold as an e-cigarette, e-cigar, e-pipe, or any other product name or descriptor, if the function of the product meets the definition of an electronic oral device.”

    ENTERTAINER EXPECTATIONS

GUILDS  Guild areas should be decorated and manned at all times by guild members in full costume.  We encourage interaction with Patrons as much as possible whether in your Guild Space or when wandering the Faire.  Feel free to utilize the Green Room as a place to relax outside of character if needed.  Though not required, you are welcome to hold mini events in your space.  If you choose to have scheduled events at your location, please have a posted schedule available to view in or just outside your Guild area.

STAGE/Performance Square Please be prompt for any scheduled slots on the stage or square, and be courteous to the next act by not going over time.  Where possible, we request that a couple minutes at the end of your slot be used for turnover to the following entertainer(s).  Sound systems are available.  If you have any unique specific requests regard sound, please contact us in advance.

FEATURE AND COLOR CHARACTERS  In addition to performing as your character throughout the Faire, we ask that you be familiar with the grounds, team, and schedules so that you can answer any questions and direct Patrons if needed.  If large crowds and/or a long line develop leading in to the Faire, we may call on our Color Characters to entertain the lines and/or help with crowd control.  If you are not comfortable with either of these roles, please reach out to us to discuss.

GREEN ROOM  The Green Room is the place to go to take a short break and eat, get hydrated, etc. You are welcome to eat in the Food Court as well, of course. We do provide a area for costume changes, but please note that the Green Room space will be used by all the entertainers. If you are doing a full change, you can use the change tent, if complete privacy is an issue it is probably best to use one of the restrooms rather than the Green Room area.  You are welcome to store gear there with the understanding that you do so knowing we cannot guarantee the security of your items. We will have our Safety Committee out and about, but please take all reasonable precautions to protect your belongings.  The Green Room will provide some privacy, but we hope you will all remember that what you say and do in the Green Room can, and probably will be overheard by Patrons.

By indicating your agreement below you agree to be bound and to follow all outlined policies listed.
